CHAD POWERS

CHIEF OF BREWING OPERATIONS

As a musician and a leader in a thriving spiritual community, I’ve always been aware of the need for good friendships and things that facilitate those good friendships. I’ve been a keen observer of how the Craft Beer Revolution is taking the world by storm and how it’s fostering deep community.

I was born and raised in the Greater Cincinnati area. My family has deep roots here, and it’s part of my life goal to continue to make this place a thriving and wonderful community.

After high school and while working my way through college I started working construction jobs. Learning trades that made use of my hands helped me to come alive. I have a passion for building, for working, and for having something to show for yourself at the end of the day.

I began working at churches during my studies at the Cincinnati Bible College. I helped lead Student Ministries at the Vineyard Community Church in 1999 and was there until we started the Northstar Community Church in 2002. Since 2002 I have been leading worship as a musician and helping to oversee all aspects of our gatherings. In my current role I manage several high tech and mechanical systems. Understanding the flow and the makeup of these systems will greatly help in my ability to manage the brewery.

Learning to brew my own beer brought about deep revelations in regard to the care and craftsmanship that are required to make excellent beer. The quality of the final product speaks volumes about the care that goes into the creation. My constant pursuit of perfection may drive my cohorts wild, but the proof is always in the Pint Glass.

GREG SNOWHEAD BREWMASTER

GREG SNOW

HEAD BREWMASTER

While on a professional ‘layover’ in Bismarck, ND I was privileged to make the acquaintance of an In-Vitro Fertilization Expert with a PHD in Molecular Microbiology. Dr. Andrew Weston taught me to brew beer. We spent many weekends creating and brewing ales in his house on the banks of the Missouri River.

I have continued to develop my brewing techniques and recipes in the intervening years. I have gone from making extract brews to custom all grain brews and have graduated from a propane burner on the back deck to a computer controlled brewing system in my house.

This has allowed me to develop a deeper level of understanding of water chemistry, yeast propagation, wort creation and hop varieties. My brew system is designed and manufactured by Blichmann Engineering and utilizes components common to professional-scale brewing systems. I have a comprehensive understanding of the mechanics of brew systems and am able to troubleshoot most situations as they develop.

My passion is dreaming up new recipes, sketching them out on paper and then brewing and perfecting them in my home ‘lab’. This has resulted in a high number of unique and amazing beers. The recipes are filed and waiting for the opportunity to be unleashed on thirsty customers.
